About

Christina M. Fortunato

Christina is a commercial real estate attorney who helps developers, investors, national retailers, and in-house legal teams move complex property transactions forward with clarity and confidence. A former AmLaw 100 attorney, she brings more than seven years of experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating sophisticated real estate transactions, including commercial leasing on behalf of both landlords and tenants.

Christina's practice spans the full life cycle of a commercial property — from acquisitions and dispositions across office, retail, hotel, hospitality, residential, multifamily, and condominium asset classes, to the day-to-day leasing work that keeps a portfolio running. She negotiates and drafts leases, amendments, renewals, estoppel certificates, SNDAs, and related ancillary documents, conducts property due diligence, and advises clients on zoning reports and site feasibility under local ordinances. When disputes arise, she serves as lead attorney on landlord-tenant matters, including mechanic's liens, and negotiates settlement agreements that preserve relationships as well as value.

Since 2024, Christina has served as Commercial Real Estate Attorney and Corporate Counsel with Axiom Law, where she has supported clients including Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Humanscale, Ball Ventures, Sweeping Corporation of America, Gypsum Management and Supply, Capital One, and Action Behavior Centers. Her work reaches well beyond U.S. borders: she has advised general counsel on international real estate matters and negotiated construction, design-and-build, and lease agreements for properties in Europe, Asia, and South America.

Earlier in her career, Christina practiced at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP, where she represented developers, REITs, and institutional investors and lenders on ground and space leasing, land use and development, planned communities, and major acquisitions and dispositions.

Christina earned her Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law, where she received the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award and served as Director of the Board of Student Advisors and Associate Editor of the International Law Journal. She also holds a Master of Arts in Food Studies from NYU's Steinhardt School and a Bachelor of Science in Media, Culture, and Communication from NYU. She is admitted to practice in New York.

Outside the office, Christina serves on the Board of Directors of the Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Center and on the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's NYC Climb Committee. In her down time, you can find Christina enjoying the company of her husband and two little boys and horseback riding.
